"At the Opéra national de Lorraine, we like to invite new perspectives to express themselves on the works of the past: this show marks the debut in France of an artist to follow in the person of Pınar Karabulut. For several seasons, this Allemande has won over critics with her world of explosive colors and her ability to work with powerful and complex female figures - whether they are great heroines of the repertoire or pop icons like Britney Spears.
Bellini wrote the role of Romeo for a mezzo and the director chooses not to make her up like a man: she thus transforms convention into strength.
