Turin's Teatro Regio has devised a ‘triple Manon’, inviting audiences to see Puccini's Manon Lescaut, Massenet's Manon and Auber's Manon Lescaut almost simultaneously - all three inspired by the novel Histoire du Chevalier Des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut by Antoine-François Prévost, and staged in three brand new productions by director Arnaud Bernard.

A sinner without malice, light and impulsive, Jules Massenet's Manon intends to make the most of her youth, because ‘we won't always be twenty! Promised a convent, this ravishing Manon follows a completely different path, where she meets the Chevalier Des Grieux, a student from a good family but of modest means. The two young people fall in love and flee together to Paris, but their journey will lead them irrevocably to a tragic end.
