"Created in 2023 at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, this lyrical fable is the fourth opera composed by George Benjamin to a text by Martin Crimp. As in 2012, on the occasion of the historic success of Written on Skin, the Opéra-Comique joined forces with this production, directed by Daniel Jeanneteau and Marie-Christine Soma, in order to give its premiere in Paris.

Crimp and Benjamin have achieved another masterstroke with this delicate, poignant and luminous work, proceeding in scenes and given without intermission, which we will have the privilege of hearing under the composer's baton. Served by outstanding performers, their creation demonstrates that the contemporary opera scene can be at once innovative, poetic and accessible."
