An ecological opera, Xynthia, the Water Odyssey, is freely inspired by Henrik Ibsen's text, An Enemy of the People, an avant-garde play written in 1883. In this visionary play, a doctor denounces the contamination of his water. city. If he speaks publicly, the spa will be economically ruined. Blackmail, pressure, plots, benching... Man becomes the enemy to be defeated by the community.
While the climate emergency is today at the heart of the political debate, the Io collective is tackling this sensitive subject, in the form of a creation with multiple echoes. Lyrical art rubs shoulders with dance and theater, in a form of total art. Composer Thomas Nguyen delivers a score with aquatic sounds, for four singers and five musicians. The direction by Mikaël Serre, the choreographies of Kitsou Dubois and the performances of the eleven performers make it a unique and exciting operatic object. Engaging, as impactful as it is poetic!
