Mathieu Jouvin

After studying business, Mathieu Jouvin entered the world of live performance and the lyric arts, initially in an administrative capacity. Mathieu Jouvin began his career at the CNCS (Centre national du costume de scène) before being recruited by Serge Dorny in September 2008 to join the team at the Opéra National de Lyon as Administrative and Financial Director. He will remain in Lyon for nine years, before spending a short period at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels as Financial Director (2017 and 2018), before joining the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées as Deputy Director in September 2018.

In May 2022, Mathieu Jouvin was appointed Sovrintendente (General Director) of the Teatro Regio in Turin, Italy. At the time, the opera house was in serious financial and administrative difficulties. Mathieu Jouvin set about turning the institution around. He gradually succeeded in revitalising the opera house and reconnecting it with its audience, both local and visiting. Under Mathieu Jouvin's leadership, the opera house was given a new lease of life. In 2024, the opera house boasted a 78% occupancy rate and around 4,000 subscribers. At the same time, the company is also pursuing a policy of rejuvenating its audience, thanks to an attractive price programme for under-30s.
