Biography

Tenor Adrian Thompson is a regular guest at the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera and Garsington Festival. Notable engagements include Snout in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for La Scala, Milan, Albert Gregor in The Makropoulos Case for Opera Zuid and Cologne Opera, the title role of Peter Grimes, Skuratov in From The House Of The Dead and Canio in Il Pagliacci for Oper Frankfurt, The Diary of one who Disappeared for La Monnaie, Brussels and the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and Emperor in Turandot for Canadian Opera Company. His 2020 performance as Mime (Siegfried) in the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Ring cycle, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, received critical acclaim.

Other recent highlights include his 2023/24 Season return to Grange Park Opera as Tichon (Katja Kabanova) and Trinculo in the world premiere of Antony Bolton’s Island of Dreams. His 2024/25 Season engagements include a return to Grange Park Opera as Goro (Madama Butterfly).
