Biography
- How did you get into your current profession? Who or what were your influences? Do you have a particular childhood memory?
I started singing when six. I decided to become a singer by watching a performance of La Traviata as a teenager. From that point on I have never stopped loving this art form. Winning a few competitions was the starting point of my profession. My biggest influences in my singing career have been my family, my agents (Alan Green and Bruce Zemsky), and my wonderful teacher Catherine Green.
- Tell us about a memory on stage. Your favorite? Your worst?
My favorite part of being on stage (I hope it never becomes a memory) is when I am able to draw listeners to the world of the character that I am interpreting. There is nothing to be compared with the power of making people see through your eyes something beautiful that they have missed somehow.
The worst part for me is when there is no chemistry with your colleagues. It can feel like you are trying to move a mountain at times.
- What is your favorite role? Your favorite composer?
Favorite roles change as we grow and perfect ourselves to mention a few Violetta, CioCioSan. As far as composers I would say predictably Verdi and Puccini (even though knowingly not being fare).
- What role would you like to perform?
I would love to perform a role that will surprise me by its depth and take me out of my comfort zone and by doing so, forcing me to grow as an artist.
- How do you deal with stage fright?
Stage fright is one of those elements that everyone has to deal with and cannot be avoided. Instead of fighting it I try to use it towards my advantage. An adrenaline that feels uncontrollable before a performance can make a huge difference between a random and a great performance.
- With what artist (living or deceased) would you like to perform?
It would have been great to have sung Traviata with an Alfredo like Franco Corelli.
- What other kinds of music do you like?
I have no discrimination towards any music as long as it touches you in the heart.
