"No one flees for pleasure. Ali was twelve years old when he left Somalia. He took the dangerous route that led from the Horn of Africa to the heart of Europe. Along the way, friendships were made despite the hardships, "hope rubs shoulders with horror. He must cross several countries, a desert and the Mediterranean, among hundreds of migrants in search of a better future. When he arrives, alone, at Brussels-South station in 2019, not knowing a word of French or Dutch, he is fourteen years old…

This epic is the true story of Ali Abdi Omar, adapted into an opera by composer and multimedia artist Gray Filastine and director Ricard Soler Mallol. Made in collaboration with Ali himself, this creation emotionally reconstructs all the stages of his journey. A sensory experience where electronic music, voices, string and wind instruments, percussion and dance pay a vibrant tribute to the resilience of a young boy forced, like so many others, to leave his family and his home to survive".
