Description
Creation.
"In 1924, Ernest Ansermet went to Buenos Aires: Argentine musicians wishing to found a symphony orchestra called the young Swiss conductor and hired him for the season. The success of the program was unexpected and considerable.
Among the listeners is Victoria Ocampo, a young woman who rushed to the concert out of love for Debussy. Polyglot and highly educated, she converses with the greatest international intellectuals and artists of her time.
The next day, she sent an invitation to Ansermet: a simple note which marked the beginning of a correspondence which would extend over more than forty years.
This correspondence will be staged and accompanied by works drawn from the repertoire that Ansermet directed in Buenos Aires to pay homage to a great story of friendship, culture and creativity, and to the links that Ernest Ansermet and Victoria Ocampo maintained with José Luis Borges, Igor Stravinsky and Rabindranath Tagore."
The musical repertoire includes pieces from:
Mauricio Kagel (1931 – 2008)
Arthur Honegger (1892 – 1955)
Igor Stravinsky (1892 – 1971)
Claude Debussy (1862 – 1918)
Maurice Ravel (1875 – 1937)
