Riccardo Chailly continues the series dedicated to Puccini that began in 2015 with Turandot with the aim of presenting to La Scala new productions of all the operas of the composer by 2022. The entire project will be recorded in audio and video and aims to become the benchmark for Puccini interpretations performances in the new century. Of fundamental importance in this regard will be the work of M°Chailly on the original scores in light of the most recent studies of Puccini. In the case of Fanciulla, that has not been at La Scala since 1995, this means going back to Puccini’s manuscript and eliminating the numerous amendments made by Toscanini for the opening at the Metropolitan in 1910. For this production director Graham Vick returns to La Scala, and the cast is led by Marcelo Álvarez and Eva-Maria Westbroeck..
