Description
Violetta Valéry, the most coveted courtesan of Paris, is afflicted with a deadly disease. Alfredo loves her. They want to begin a new life together. But their relationship damages the reputation of Alfredo’s family. Pressured by Alfredo’s father, Violetta leaves the man she loves.
Its musical opulence, the unfathomable brilliancy of the portrayed society and the emotional death scene made La traviata into one of the most popular operas of all times. Upon its world premiere in 1853, the opera world was shocked by the realism presented on stage.
