Description
New production, created at the 2 Scènes de Besançon on January 22, 2025.
"The plot is very simple: in Saint Mark's Square, between the canals, under the balconies of the Venetian palaces, Léonore and Isabelle love Léandre, who prefers the latter. Rodolphe, who is also in love with her, joins forces with the former to take revenge on the one who makes his love impossible. She is the pretext for a prologue where the preparation of a set is completed, for a ball, for the performance of a show which is none other than Orfeo, all in this setting conducive to misunderstandings and tricks that is carnival.
In the staging, Yvan Clédat and Coco Petitpierre, with the choreographer Sylvain Prunenec, have imagined a large and joyful world machine, whose Punchinellos and Harlequins are the mischievous artificers. At the podium, Camille Delaforge directs the Il Caravaggio ensemble. On stage, soloists, choir and dancers re-appropriate this lyrical entertainment to better reinvent the play, humor and beauty that the Venice Carnival offered to its contemporaries.
Let the party begin!"
