Description
Concert.
"To mark the reopening of La Cité Bleue after two years of renovation work, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo will be given in concert version by the Namur Chamber Choir and Cappella Mediterranea, conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón .
Telling the tragic story of Orpheus, who travels to the Underworld to find his beloved Eurydice, Monteverdi's masterpiece is often considered the first opera in history. It allows us to hear the whole range of human emotions put to music with genius and subtlety.
“The strength of L’Orfeo’s message places us face to face with the mirror of all human questions. Life, death, love and music are the four forces that drive the life of Man, and L'Orfeo is perhaps the opera that best embodies these essential subjects which accompany Man from the very beginning. birth of philosophy,” explains Leonardo García Alarcón."
