"The result of several years of research into what a historically documented performance of Wagner's operas would be, this Siegfried performance is performed by the musicians of Concerto Köln and the Dresden Festival Orchestra under the direction of Kent Nagano.

Begun in 2017, this interdisciplinary artistic and scientific research project has allowed us to reexamine a widely studied work, Wagner's Ring, in the most comprehensive way possible, in order to offer, for the first time, a historically informed reading. Kent Nagano and his collaborators have thus examined questions of pronunciation, conducting, instruments, and staging in Wagner's work. They apply their findings to the second day of the stage festival, Siegfried, which focuses on the story of Wotan's grandson who knows neither fear nor envy.
