A well-known character from the legends of ancient Persia, Sindbad the Sailor inspired the British composer Howard Moody to write an absolutely contemporary opera.
Sindbad the sailor returns home to Baghdad after a long journey and discovers his city completely bombed. Faced with all these orphaned children who haunt the streets, it is a journey of a new kind that he must now undertake with them, to try to find them a better future where peace will overcome disputes and wars.
Directed by a regular visitor, Benoît Bénichou, and directed by the composer Howard Moody himself, this participatory work will be an opportunity for young lyrical artists from the CFA as well as students from schools in the city of Nice to take their first steps on the Opera stage. A doubly civic, unifying and human experience, where the sense of collective work joins the purpose of the work: war can strike anywhere and at any time. Fortunately, solidarity and mutual aid should not remain empty words...
