Description
Concert.
At the end of the world on the mythical island of Ogygie, while Neptune unleashes the storm, Calypso tries to seduce a young and handsome shipwrecked man named Telemachus. Will Odysseus' son respond to the nymph's dangerous charms? Will he resist the hatred of Adraste?
After Semiramis, Les Ombres continues to explore the fascinating work of musketeer musician André-Cardinal Destouches
We discover in Télémaque and Calypso the dramatic efficiency specific to Destouches, and always this care to privilege in his stories the “liveliness of the flow” and the naturalness of the declamation. The work also echoes his attachment to Louis XIV, then at the end of his life, with a large monumental chaconne with verses and choruses of nearly four hundred bars, a tribute to the tradition inherited from Lully.
Télémaque et Calypso will thus be reborn and be the subject of a CD recording for our collection.
