"The Force of Destiny is the most incredible, breathtaking and picturesque serial novel ever produced by the operatic world. From the famous opening, the tone is set: subjected to an irremediable curse, tossed from battlefield to remote hermitage across Spain and Italy, the protagonists will know no respite until implacable fate has unleashed all its blows. Concentrated with powerful and contrasting situations, the work has something resolutely baroque and experimental about it: truer than real life if we are to believe the ardent and passionate vocality of the characters. The cast demands the maximum from the three main roles – from the most complex soprano part played by Anna Pirozzi to the most fascinating male duets (Brian Jagde and Ariun Ganbaatar) –, without forgetting the sublime or grotesque counterpoint of three well-characterized secondary characters. This exceptional event under the direction of Daniele Rustioni at the head of the Chorus and the Lyon Opera Orchestra associates the Aix-en-Provence Festival and the Chorégies d'Orange."
